VLC MAC 10.5.8 MAC OS
I realize that this could be an OS issue, but I know I have watched streaming data on this host at Mac OS 10.10.5 before. I've tried 2.2.1 production, and the 2.2.0 and 3.0.0 daily builds, and they all behave the same way. I have tried turning the MacOS X firewall off as well. Sending the stream as rtp didn't appear to make a difference, but I did not test that mode extensively. The hosts are on the same L2 network, so TTL isn't an issue, although it is set to 11 on the server.
Once I set it this way, I do start seeing the multicast traffic coming to the host in tcpdump (leaving the defaults to 3 and 1 respectively, I never get the streaming data) but I still don't see any video in VLC. I have a fully compiled and working vlc 0.8.6.c. But for old users: v3 is not still on a par with v2.2.8!:-o I'm essentially having issues with my TV provider streams: - subtitles: way too big even with 'Smaller' selected in the menu (ok, this was not much better in 2.2.8 as the menu options weren't working at all, but at least the subtitles had the right size. Being objective: for anyone discovering VLC, it's a great multi-purpose player.
